Private Top Poker Tournaments Attract Executives to Vegas
Destination VIP, Inc., an online provider of destination management services and vacation packages, has recently expanded its entertainment services to include coordinating private events such as martini mixers and world-class poker tournaments for business executives. Top poker tournaments are no longer reserved for professional poker players and celebrities playing for charity.
Poker is hot. Bravo and ESPN currently dedicate a large portion of their primetime programming to airing poker tournaments. Celebrities are placing their bets at the poker table for their favorite charities. And, millions of people are going online to hone their poker playing abilities, and to take part in the latest trend sweeping the American culture.
Organizing private top poker tournaments where clients can play for real or for play is one way Destination VIP has leveraged this trend, and corporate executives are finding the new entertainment services attractive.
“I was looking for something new to do in Vegas, but something that was fun, unique and different,” says Brian Martin, president of Vacation Connections. “Destination VIP suggested a poker tournament given the current popularity of the game, and set the whole thing up for us.”
Destination VIP secured two world-class top poker tournament players to attend the event where they quickly covered the basics of poker play and the value of hands. The event was hosted in the Rain Man Suite at Caesar's Palace, the same 3,500 square feet duplex suite featured in the 1988 Tom Cruise and Dustin Hoffman film. Attendees were given $500,000 in fake chips to play the tournament which was fully catered with an open bar, and was staffed with butlers and servers.
In the highly competitive travel and hospitality management industries, Destination VIP has built its reputation as the destination management company of choice by creating memorable entertainment events. The company has coordinated world-class events for such clients as Proctor & Gamble, World Wrestling Entertainment and AskJeeves.com.
Initially a bachelor party planning service, the company expanded its services to include greater VIP access to “hot spots” in their destination cities. The bachelor and bachelorette party service grew to include corporate event planning, and the Las Vegas-based operation now offers packages and services in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, New Orleans, St. Maarten and Reykjavik, Iceland.
