In the news published by The Associated Press on April 5, 2004 internet advertising giants Google, Yahoo and Msn.com dropped casino ads due to a federal crackdown on internet gambling.

Google dropped all casino ads by the end of April 2004, and Yahoo phased out casino ads in the U.S. market, but allow them to continue in 14 other countries where the company operates web sites. Yahoo's decision also affects Microsoft Corp's MSN site, whose search engine depends on a Yahoo subsidiary, Overture Services, for its online casino ads.
