31/10/2001 The Fayetteville Museum of Art will share its 8th annual Las Vegas Night Nov. 10. It is a fundraiser to benefit the museum's educational programs and exhibitions. The museum's goal this year is to raise $10,000. Tom Grubb, FMA executive director said, "This is a way to augment our basic budget to get exciting exhibitions and continue the education programs," The money raised during the event comes directly from sponsorships, ticket sales and new memberships. Tickets for the event are $50 per person. In turn, each guest receives $50 in playing chips. Everyone will have the opportunity to play various Las Vegas-style casino games like Black Jack, Roulette and Craps. Players can use their winnings to bid on various art pieces at the end of the evening. Regional artists including Tom Grubb, Peter Butler and Ralph Steeds have donated these works of art. "This is the best event we can do," said Amanda Pilletere, FMA's office manager. The evening is guaranteed to raise money for the museum as a result of auctioning donated items. In addition to raising money, the museum is using the event to recruit more members. They're offering a special for new members: anyone who purchases a membership will be given a chip for each dollar they spend on the membership during the Las Vegas evening. The ticket price includes a buffet and open bar and live music by guitarist Frank Hardwick. The players that will find themselves without tickets at the time of the auction would be able to purchase more chips to bid with. Tickets can be purchased through Nov. 7 by either stopping by the museum or by phone. Visa and Mastercard are accepted. The Las Vegas Night will be held on the grounds of the Fayetteville Museum of Art, located at 839 Stamper Rd. in the Eutaw Shopping Center. Dress is casual.
