27/03/2001 Survey reveals that over half its respondents did not know they could win money at online gaming sites
A recent survey conducted by Blackjack.com, in conjunction with Market Facts Telenation reveals some strange facts. According to the survey, nearly 55% of the 1000 respondents didn't know they could win real money when gambling online. Baron Menzel, CEO of Blackjack.com's parent company Paramount Trading Inc., stated, that despite his claim that ?the odds are as good or better gambling online than at a land-based casino,? it appears that ?not many people are aware of all the online gambling options, especially when it comes to winning real money.? In fact, the largest jackpot won at an Internet casino exceeded US$100,000. It appears that the online gaming industry needs to educate its market and make the public aware that there is money, and even big money to be made (and lost) at Internet casinos. The survey also revealed that the majority of respondents (16%) cited convenience as their reason for playing at web casinos. Gender was also a determining factor in which games were played. 33.4% of men said their game of choice was blackjack, while women were divided almost equally between bingo (17.2%) and slots (17.6%).
