| Aristocrat Leisure positioning itself to hit the Nevada Jackpot |
21/02/2001 Australian gaming machine maker to take advantage of rising demand for replacing machine software. Australian gaming machine maker Aristocrat Leisure plans to break into the Nevada machine market by utilizing an anticipated rise in demand for new software in gaming machines. Says chief executive Des Randall, "We expect that there will be greater emphasis and demand for the replacement of game software and the value of services and solutions in future. Aristocrat is well positioned to continue to thrive in both mature and developing markets." On schedule with its market penetration, the company intends to ship its first product into Las Vegas in late second quarter of 2001. Aristocrat Leisure, which earns about 31 percent of its revenue offshore, posted a net profit of AU$64.88 million for calendar 2000, up from AU$58.79 million for 1999. The company?s revenue fell well within the median net profit forecast of Multex Global Estimates. The Aristocrat Leisure group currently holds around 100 licenses to sell its gaming machines in overseas jurisdictions, including Nevada. In addition, it recently unveiled a plan to buy Las Vegas-based Casino Data Systems for US$180 million (AU$325 million). |
