2002 CINEVEGAS INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL TO BE HELD AT THE PALMS CASINO RESORT

LAS VEGAS - It was announced today the Palms Casino Resort is the sponsoring hotel of the 2002 CineVegas International Film Festival. George Maloof, president of the Palms said the festival will be held June 8-15, 2002.

As the sponsoring hotel, the Palms will kick off the festival's opening night gala with a poolside celebration while the closing night gala will be held at Rain in the Desert, the resort's nightclub. The festival's films will be shown on Brenden Theatres' 14 screens located inside the Palms.

"I'm pleased to announce the Palms, along with the Entertainment Development Corporation (EDC), will host the CineVegas International Film Festival in 2002," said Maloof. "The EDC's commitment to fostering growth in Las Vegas' entertainment industry is commendable and I am honored the Palms will play an integral role in that effort. We will work hard to make it the most fantastic festival yet!"

With the brand new Brenden Theatres all the films will be shown in the most technologically sophisticated movie theaters."

CineVegas will feature Hollywood studio premiers; a women in film component; screenings of films and workshops with a focus on the digital formats as well as independent films, documentaries and shorts. The demographics of the festival will be a little younger, fostering the growth of new talent and unique celebrations each evening showcasing the Palms restaurants and event venues.

The CineVegas International Film Festival is an international experience in film culture. The star-studded extravaganza provides local Las Vegans and visitors with an opportunity to see world-class films, meet and mingle with artistic and cutting-edge talent in the industry, build on the entertainment boom in Las Vegas, and create an ongoing forum, positioning Las Vegas as a major film festival hub. The Palms Casino Resort is the $265 million boutique resort scheduled to open November 15. Owned by the Maloof family, the new 455-room property will offer an exciting mix of restaurants and bars, a14-theatre Cineplex, a 1,500-seat, multi-use entertainment venue and a 95,000-square-foot casino.
