RIO TO HOST 'LAS VEGAS CHRISTMAS SPECTACULAR'

Holiday Song and Dance Extravaganza stars Comedian Rip Taylor

LAS VEGAS, NEV - The Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino, Dick Foster Productions and Coca Cola* present a glittering holiday production, "The Rio Las Vegas Christmas Spectacular," starring internationally acclaimed comic Rip Taylor.

The full-scale production show brings singing, dancing and hilarious comedy to the 700-seat Scinta Showroom Dec. 14-25. Performances are 7:30 p.m. Friday-Wednesday (dark Thursday), and there will be special matinee performances on at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 21 and Sunday, Dec. 22. Tickets are $24.95 plus tax, and available at the Rio Box Office.
Featuring the stunning live accompaniment of the Jerry Lopez Band, Rip Taylor, who has experienced an amazing resurgence in mainstream popularity with his memorable appearance in the recent box office hit, "Jackass The Movie," takes audiences through a wonderland of Christmas festivities, highlighted by a hot list of special guests, and the Rio Christmas dancers.

The "King of Confetti" is back in Las Vegas and ready to put his audiences in stitches as a whirl of color trails behind him. Taylor's trademark hilarity includes a display of the outrageous Christmas gifts collected over the years from his many celebrity friends. And the spirit of the season finally brings Rip to tears, leading the audience to absolute hysterics as he performs his famous "crying" segment.

Special guests include Steve Connelly and his talented Elvis Presley impersonations. Connelly brings the "King" back to life for a medley of Las Vegas hits, plus a moving rendition of "Blue Christmas."

Spicing up the Christmas festivities will be Los Huincas Gauchos, a fun-filled Latin group that will appear with their special brand of Argentinean drums, bolos and light-hearted audience participation. This "Salsa Christmas" is truly a fiery stage spectacular.

"Angels We Have Heard on High" takes on a new meaning with Flight La Femme, a magnificent act of splendor that features two awe-inspiring female acrobatic artists. Suspended 20 feet in the air, above the heads of the audience, this dynamic duo interprets the magnificent sounds and spirit of Christmas through strength, beauty, agility and fluid body movements.
Traci Ault, former lead singer of Harrah's Las Vegas' production show "Skintight," will showcase her amazing vocal talent in both traditional and contemporary Christmas sounds., bringing a new energy and spirit to the Christmas season.

The entire spectacular is punctuated by a troupe of classically trained male and female dancers, executing contemporary and theatrical dance production numbers. The effect is a performance rife with style, precision and grace.
